A total of 61 top-performing farmers from Sogod, particularly from Barangay Dagsa and Barangay Maac, successfully completed the Masaganang Cocobuhayan: Radyo Eskwela sa Pagniniyugan, School-on-the-Air (SOA) Program, and were honored during their graduation ceremony held on July 24, 2025, at the ICP Covered Court in Sogod, Southern Leyte. The initiative was spearheaded by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Sogod.
The program was designed to equip coconut farmers with essential knowledge in pest and disease management, productivity enhancement, and post-harvest handling and processing. It also introduced strategies for value-adding and connecting products to potential markets. Barangay Dagsa and Barangay Maac were selected as pilot areas for the program, with Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) from the LGU facilitating and evaluating the learning journey of the farmer-beneficiaries.
Key guests during the event included Hon. Rufo Olo, SB Chairman – Committee on Agriculture, who delivered the welcome address; Hon. Rolando O. Bacoy, SP Chairman – Committee on Agriculture, who gave a message of support; Irwin G. Sy, OIC–Provincial Agriculturist; and Christian Keruel Laurente, SOA Coordinator from ATI RTC 8, who presented the graduates. The program was hosted by Ma. Cristita O. Clava, who guided the event with warmth and enthusiasm.
“Hindi masama na ipinanganak ka ng mahirap. Ang masama ay kung wala kang ginawa.”
