The Sogod Rural Health Unit (RHU) welcomed delegates from various municipalities across Southern Leyte on July 24, 2025, at the RHU Conference Hall for a PCF (Primary Care Facility) Benchmarking Activity. As the first certified Primary Care Facility in the province, RHU Sogod shared its implementation journey and innovations to support other LGUs aiming to establish and operationalize their own PCF.

The activity featured a presentation of Sogod RHU’s PCF journey, highlighting processes, compliance mechanisms, and site-level innovations. Attendees participated in a site walkthrough and orientation on PCF documentation and service delivery models, followed by an interactive session for feedback, questions, and collaborative learning.

Hon. Sheffered Lino S. Tan, Municipal Mayor of Sogod, also graced the event and delivered a message expressing full support for strengthening primary care services and commending the efforts of the RHU in leading by example in the province.

Key speakers included Dr. Marc Florendo B. Mato, Municipal Health Officer; Dr. Isabelita B. Mato, Municipal Consultant; Mariza Dolera, DOH Representative (DMO IV); and Sheryl Lura, Nurse IV and resource speaker.

Participants included CHU/RHU personnel from the municipalities of Maasin, Macrohon, Tomas Oppus, Bontoc, Libagon, and Liloan, along with DOH representatives Mariza Dolera (Sogod Bay) and Vanessa Napuli (Maasin, Malitbog, Macrohon).

This initiative represents a collective commitment to strengthening primary care systems in the province through knowledge exchange, capacity building, and shared innovation.
